Fellow Morganeers,

2027 Scenic Runs

Sunday 10th January - New Year’s Run
After the VERY wet events over the last couple of years, your Committee is considering a slightly different approach. Last year we gathered in our usual car park in Ringwood having been
presented with a carefully crafted scenic run written by members Carl & Judy Bailey. With the pouring rain set in for the day, many turned up in Tin Tops and only a few brave souls tackled the run, many of you opting to drive straight to the end point at The Fighting Cocks where a hearty Sunday Lunch was enjoyed. With this experience in mind we may take a slightly different
approach. It will still involve driving and lunch so no great change there. Reserve the date and watch this space for more news.

Sunday 25th April- National Drive-It day
This year we are planning to celebrate the day with a scenic run. No further details are available yet except to say that plans are afoot so again, reserve the date and watch this space.

Padstow Rally
Friday 30th April - Monday 3rd May
Carnevas Holiday Park, St Merryn, Padstow

Members and organisers of the Annual Padstow Rally, Richard & Christine Mutlow, have asked me to announce this. The rally has been running every year for more years than I can remember (and certainly since before my time with LogMOG). Although billed as a weekend event, most members choose to stay for a few more days. It is timed to coincide with the annual Padstow “Obby-Oss” Festival on May 1st and there are many other places to visit via some seriously scenic routes.
Accommodation is either in very modern static caravans or compact chalets. All accommodations surround a small garden and we can park our cars directly outside our front doors. With
just 13 chalets/caravans the event does tend to book quite quickly so, if you do want to go, please let me know on my usual email brian.dunton@talk21.com or secretary@logmog.co.uk. As with all of our events, applications will be dealt with on a strictly first come, first served basis by email to me only.

Classic Tours of Wales
31st May - 3rd June
Llanerchindda Farm, Cynghordy, Llandovery
Our organiser Sue Brookes had the tour next year fully booked but we have inevitably had some cancellations so places are available, including one single room, should you wish to take them. Sue can be contacted at regalia@logmog.co.uk

LogMOG have exclusively secured all the rooms at this family run venue for a 3 day visit to tour mid-Wales. The cost will be approximately £390.00 per person. The package is full board along with a drivers package to include local maps, places of interest and tulip directions. A different route is provided for the days of your stay together with a briefing each morning with hints, tips and weather conditions. Members who have visited previously comment on the stunning views and excellent fare. There is secure parking and covered parking if required. You may
also use the hose to wash your car! You can read more at https://cambrianway.com/experiences/classic-car-tours-of-wales/

Race Report - Slot Car Racing
Member Simon Dale-Smith organised a Morgan vs Porsche event at the home track of the Dorset Slot Car Club’s superb 4 lane track. We started the afternoon with around 9 drivers from each team. The track system cleverly then sorts the racing into groups such that all drivers race each car/lane. The real time systems report race position/lap times/fastest lap as the race progresses. At half time, after the Morgan series, Porsche were winning my a small margin. We then enjoyed a social/late lunch/BBQ before returning for the Porsche session. I’d love to report that we came back and won the day but it wasn’t to be. Porsche took the overall win and the fastest lap trophies (donated by LogMOG and sourced by LogMOG member George Hamilton-Fletcher). Our thanks to Simon and the DSCC Chairman Steve (aka Captain) for hosting the event.

Christmas Lunch
Beaulieu Inn Hotel, Beaulieu Road, Brockenhurst, Sunday 6th December
We now have over 80 members registered for this event and still have room for more so please let me know if you want to join us. Please remember that this year’s theme is ”Summer Holidays”. With winter fast approaching, don’t put your summer wear away for the year. Let’s get colourful! Anything goes, just dress to impress. As usual there will be a competition and prizes.

Silvertstone.
A number of LogMOG Morganeers travelled up to Silverstone Circuit on Saturday to watch the Equipe Super Sprint. The eligible series for taking part was a real mixed bag including
Equipe 50’s, Pre ’63, GTS, Libre, Sports Racing Cars, 70s and the MG cup. We were there in support of LogMOG member John Shaw who was driving his +8. The format was a full days
racing, starting at 09.00 with three 15 minute qualifying sessions designed to split the pack of 66 cars into 3 groups based on lap times. This was followed by three 10 lap standing start races
which continued to filter and categorise drivers by lap time. Finally there was a final for each group. John was in the first of the qualifiers and found himself on a damp track meaning that lap times were slightly slower. This put him in group 2 for the first of the races. Starting 18th on the grid John finished the FIRST LAP in second place, overtaking 16 cars!! He held this place until the end of the race. Incredible driving, the crowd went wild and even the commentators couldn’t keep up. Unsurprisingly John finished in the top group and managed a creditable 10th place with little chance of improving that with AC Cobra’s a couple of really fast Escorts, Lotus, a Ginetta and a few other super quick cars on the track. A great day out and thanks John for entertaining us so well.

Membership

We now have 121 memberships in the Centre (a membership is people living at the same address).
Please remember to let our Membership Secretary know if any of your details change; we’ve noticed a reasonable turn-over of cars this year and it’s always helpful to have a record of your latest pride & joy. Steve can be contacted at membership@logmog.co.uk

Centre Regalia
Polo shirts continue to sell well. Each shirt has the New Forest version of the Morgan “wings” on the front with a union flag on the right hand sleeve and the newly created “LOGMOG” motif on the back. I’m pleased to announce that we have been able to reduce the price of the shirts now that our initial design investment has been recouped thus shirts are now priced at just £15 each.

Just let Committee Member Sue Brookes know at: regalia@logmog.co.uk   if you want to place an order. We will have samples available to try on for size at various events and would urge you to check sizing as returns are not possible.Just let Committee Member Sue Brookes know at: regalia@logmog.co.uk  if you want to place an order.

You may also have noticed the emergence of exclusive polo shirts created for our Rallies, so far we had a set made for the Brittany Rallies and we’re planning one for Normandy next year.
